How do I use RISC-V FPGA in the other board instead "Nexys A7" board?

Hi @plc330,

Sorry for my late replay, I've just seen your post.

It's a larger board than Nexys A7 (larger FPGA, memory...) so I understand it should be possible and not complex. You could start from the VeeR EH1-based SoC (provided in v2.2 and also in v3.0 of the RVfpga materials). Note that at least you'll need to change the constraints file "rvfpganexys.xdc". Please let us know if you need any other guidance and please inform us of your progress.

Thanks

Best regards

Dani

It seems that it's not just about modifying the constraints file; it appears that PlatformIO does not support the Digilent Genesys 2 (Kintex-7 FPGA). I could not find any information related to the Genesys 2 development board in PlatformIO's Platform and Board Explorer. In the ChipsAlliance category, only the Digilent Nexys A7 is listed. Does this mean that I cannot use PlatformIO tools to perform some experiments in RVfpga?

Hi,

In v3.0 we added support for some more boards. So, in v3.0 there's support for these boards: NexysA7/Nexys4 DDR, Basys 3 and Boolean.

You're right that there's no support for Genesys 2 (Kintex-7 FPGA). It should not be difficult to add it, but there are no plans of doing that on our side. You can try it yourself (we'll try to help you if you have any problems during the process).

Another option is to use RVfpga from the command-line, as explained in Appendix A of the RVfpga-EH1 Getting Started Guide.

Best regards

Dani
